Energy Saving - A Hot Topic

Saving of energy consumed for heating becomes more and more important day by day.

Scientific studies have revealed that our main fuel reserves such as oil, natural gas and coil are exhausting fast. Increase of energy costs seems inevitable considering the ever increasing oil and natural gas prices.

In order to achieve high quality of life and comfort in the future, energy saving should be made as soon as possible.




Energy Identity Certificate


Regulation for Energy Performance in Buildings, which directs us to use the energy we consume in our residential and working buildings more efficiently has become effective on January 01, 2011. Starting from this date, it is required to receive an Energy Identity Certificate for all new buildings.

It is also required to receive the same certificate for the current buildings until May 2017. In order to receive an Energy Identity Certificate as the highest class, preferring a proper thermal insulation system (insulation) is the only solution.

Energy Identity Certificate includes details regarding the energy requirement, energy consumption classification, insulation properties as well as efficiency of heating and cooling systems as a minimum. In an Energy Identity Certificate, annual energy consumption per usage area of building and greenhouse gas emission are classified according to the reference scale varying between "A" and "G". Energy Identity Certificate is valid for 10 years from date of issue. At the end of this period, Energy Identity Certificate will be reissued according to a report to be prepared.




Insulation = Investment


One of the common mistakes on the subject of insulation is the belief that heat mainly exists through the windows and the roof. However, the large part of heat energy gets lost through the cold exterior walls having large surface area and this loss constitutes the half of total heat loss. Therefore, if saving is the goal, insulation of exterior walls, where maximum heat loss occurs is the most efficient precaution in addition to renewal of the windows and insulation of the attic.With a proper thermal insulation (insulation) to be applied to your exterior walls, you will be able to make an energy and fuel saving of 50% in average. Thanks to the thermal insulation performed with the application of thermal insulation system, cost of thermal insulation (insulation) is compensated in 3 winters in average. This compensation period varies between 2 and 5 years depending on the quantity and type of fuel consumed as well as the type of the building. Considering that thermal insulation is an economy to last for 4 seasons, this period will get shorter if we regard that air conditioner costs (power, coolant, service) will also decrease in summer season with this insulation.
 


In the left picture, thermal camera displays the heat loss on uninsulated walls as red areas obviously. Whereas in the right picture, the same building is displayed after insulation is applied on its exterior walls. You can see that heat loss is eliminated almost completely.
